This report supplements the previously submitted Partial Class A-2 Response Action Outcome (RAO) submitted for the 162 Federal Street property(source of release). On August 6,2007,during the removal of a 1,000-gallon capacity single-walled steel UST,a release of fuel oil was detected. The MassDEP was notified on August 6, 2007 and the MassDEP orally approved an Immediate Response Action (IRA)to assess the extent of the release detected and if necessary excavate and dispose of at an offsite-approved facility up to 200 cubic yards of petroleum-impacted soil. Under this IRA, approximately 239.76 tons(approximately 160 cubic yards)of petroleum-impacted soil was excavated and transported off the Site under proper bill of lading to ESMIlocated in Loudon,New Hampshire where it was thermally processed. Additionally, high vacuum extraction (HVE) and hydrogen peroxide treatment was completed under the IRA. The fuel oil release was contained,characterized and delineated.
