PRIVATE POOL - DEFINITION Any pool intended to be used primarily by occupants of a one or two family dwelling. Any such pool more than 24 inches deep or having a surface area greater than 250 square feet (18 foot diameter) requires a building permit before installation, enlargement or alteration. 2. PERMITS Applications for a permit shall be accompanied by a certified plot plan (scale not less than 1 " = 20' ) fully dimensional, showing pool location on property, relation of adjacent structures on property, location of all fences and gate, and owner's name of abutting propertiaS (See sample) . 3. POOL LOCATION No side of any pool shall be closer than 6 feet to side or rear property lines, no closer to front yard lines than the zoning setback requirements, or closer than 10 feet to any building foundation. Variances from these requirements shall be permitted only by Special Permit from the Board of Appeal. 4. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS Pools will be surrounded by a fence at least 4 feet high and no further than 25 feet from the sides of the pool. Rail fences will not be permitted. ONE 3 foot wide gate with closing and locking device will be permitted. Pools shall comply with all applicable codes. 5. CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE Before a wiring permit can be obtained a Certificate of Compliance must be issued. Said certificate will be issued only after a new certified plot plan (bearing the stamp of a registered surveyor) showing that the pool is properly sited has been filed with the Inspector of Buildings, or a request for an on-site inspection has been honored by the Inspector of Buildings. If in the opinion of the Inspector a site plan is warranted, a certified plan shall be furnished before the Certificate is issued.
