Salem Redevelopment Authority Salem Redevelopment Authority Decision November 9, 2016 234 Essex Street (Army Barracks): Discussion and vote on proposed installation of window signage. SRA Decision At its meeting on November 9, 2016 the SRA voted unanimously (4-0) to approve the proposed installation of window signage at 234 Essex Street (Army Barracks) as proposed by the Design Review Board. Recommendation At its meeting on October 26, 2016 the Design Review Board voted unanimously (4-0) to recommend approval of the proposed installation of window signage as presented. Proposal The applicant would like to place vinyl decals along the bottom edge of each respective window that faces Essex Street. The height of each sign will be 6.25" and the total area of the signs will be 17.11 square feet. The signs will have dark green backing with yellow font to match the awnings. Staff Comments The proposal is in compliance with design guidelines and the City's Sign Ordinance. The applicant currently has window signage along the bottom of these windows, which were installed without approval of the DRB/SRA. Since being contacted, the applicant has been cooperative in putting together the proposal before you today, and upon approval, will replace the currently unapproved signage with the proposed signage.
