In connection with 42 Broad Street, enclosed are voter registration
list . for 1962 for the City of Salem showing the seven apartments and a note
from the Assessor's Office showing the same, as well as excerpts from Polk's
Salem Directory for 1964 and 1965 listing seven units. We are endeavoring
to get rental records for that period which carried the number of units at
7 for many years prior to the. 1965 zoning. I hope this will be helpful.

RE: 42 Broad Street
Dear John:
I have reviewed the plan submitted for property located at 42
Broad Street and your question regarding the enclosure of porches. I
would call your attention to Section VII L of the Zoning Ordinance.
1 . It would appear the porches existed prior to August 27, 1965.
2. By scaling the plan, the existing porches exceed the five (5)
foot side yard setback.
3. Prior to the issuance of the necessary building permit, permission
to issue must be obtained from the Fire Chief and the Board of
Health.
If I can be of further service in this matter please contact me.
Sincerely,
Wi liam H. Munroe
