Tremblay, Inspector of Buildings Re 12 Briggs Street Dear Mr. Tremblay : As per your telephone discussion yesterday , I am writing you with respect to the current use and status of 12 Briggs Street . In your letter of 3/31/94 to Mr. Boudreault , you alleged that the property was currently being utilized as a four (4) family. This is absolutely not the case . Please be advised that Mr. Boudreault ' s son lives in one unit with two (2) friends . there as his roommates . The other unit is Mr. Boudreault ' s permanent address . There are no other units nor other tenants . A friend of Mr. Boudreault did prepare temporary living :,quarters for himself in the basement while he was attending to some repairs . Mr. Boudreault advised him that he would have to leave. Mr. Boudreault did so upon receipt of your letter and per my counsel . This same gentle- men did make some repairs without a building permit in. order to assist Mr. Boudreault in the aftermath of Mrs . Boudreault ' s death last February . Mr. Boudreault was unaware that no building permit had issued. Mr. Boudreault works for the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts . During the week due to long hours and a long commute, he stays in an apartment in Watertown. His permanent residence is 12 Briggs Street with their son. There was a mild entrangement between Mr. and Mrs . Boudreault JAMES E. FAHEY, JR. ATTORNEY AT LAW 158 BELMONT STREET WATERTOWN, MASSACHUSETTS 02172 BUS. (617) 924-3033 RES. (617) 926-2044 FAX (617) 924-=oc 7642 continued - page two before she passed. For that reason, Mr . Boudreault was neither knowledgeable nor attentive with respect to the status of 12 Briggs Street before February, 1994. Since that time, with the assistance of his handyman friend, he has been attending to basic maintenance. However, there never was and there is not now any effort to increase the number of living quarters at 12 Briggs Street . Mr. Boudreault will remove any renovations in the basement which might make that area a living unit . Within three (3) weeks Mr. Boudreault will contact you and arrange a site visit . for you. Mr. Boudreault will take such action , with respect . to a building permit , as you request and require upon inspection . A copy of this letter will be given to Mr. Boudreault in order to secure his understanding. Thank you for your patience with us . I am truly sorry that so many phone calls were necessary before we finally talked. We do appreciate your help, cooperation, and understanding . )ames y t r , JEF: f E.
