The baiting for rodents for the whole island was covered and bait placed in all suspicious areas for precautionary measures. Two wells were tested for water quality. The Community Well and Por. Arthur's well were both found to be safe, acceptable and wholesome per our laboratory testing procedure and methods. Carl Moore was very accommodating in all areas of the island. A potential dwelling site was also observed for which we have to go back to witness a Perk Test. This visit to the island was very fruitful. We are looking forward to the first week in July for a return trip for more well water testing. Sincerely, Robert E. June 30, 1977 Salem Board of Health Israel Kaplan Health Center Salem, Mass. Att: Colin Cameron Sub: Sewage Disposal System, P.E. Littlefield, Baker's Island Gentlemen: This letter is written to seek your approval to install both a Clivus Multrum and a leaching system on the lot of P. E. Littlefield on Baker's Island. If this proposal proves acceptable, what modifications , if any, in tank size and field size would be permitted? 1',realize that it isarather late date to request prompt consideration on this matter. However, it has only recently come to my attention that the State Board of Health is now permitting the use of Clivus Multrums and that they are encouraging the use and development of innovative sewage disposal systems. It has also come to my attention that the State is leaving the decision of multrum use in the hands of local health boards. In any case your consideration of this request will be greatly appreciated. Mr. Littlefield would like to do this work this summer if at all possible. I myself will be available to meet with you at°your convenience to discuss this matter. Mr. Littlefield, himself will , I assume, also be available _ if given enough advance notice. . J In as much as I have'a'summer cottage on Baker's Island, could you for the summer direct any correspondence to me c/o Baker's Island, Salem, Mass.? During the day I may be reached at the Ipswich Town Hall at 356-5592. Very Truly Yours, James E. Chase., P.E. w/enc cc: P. E.
