Please be advised that this office continues to work with Mrs. Koski, the
owner of 25 Boston Street, concerning the issues of a retaining wall that supports
the abutting land. I have been in touch with Mrs. Koski's family, who has
retained Meridian Engineering to conduct a study of options for the property. We
expect to have Meridian's report within a month and will be in contact with your
office to discuss next steps.
The owners wish me to convey to you their willingness and desire to work
with both the City. and the neighbors to resolve any issues surrounding the
property. ;\

RE: 25 Boston Street
Salem, Ma. 01970
Dear Ms. Koski:
This Department has received and investigated two complaints relating to your property.
1. A portion of the lot has been dug out and fenced in to allow a"tow yard" to be
created. The property is located in a B-2 zone. Towing yards are not an allowed
use in this zone.
2. In creating the "Tow Yard" a portion of your lot was excavated. In doing so
a retaining was undermined and a drainage problem created.
You are directed to cease and desist operating the towing yard. You are also directed to
secure the services of a Registered Engineer to design and implement repairs to the
retaining wall. and drainage.
If you feel you are aggrieved by the zoning interpretation, your appeal is to the Salem
Zoning Board of Appeal.
If you feel you are aggrieved by this order to repair the retaining wall, you appeal is to
the Board of Building Regulations and Standards located in Boston, Ma.
If you have any questions, please contact me directly.
