The deck has been replaced but no permits seem to have been pulled. The piers are not adequate and the stairs do not meet building code. Please contact this office within ten (10) days upon receipt of this letter. Failure to comply will result in legal action being filed in Salem District Court. Massachusetts State Building Code 780 CMR, Section 103-1 requires all Building and structures to be maintained in a safe, operable and sanitary condition. The rear porch has obvious structural problems and needs to be repaired or replaced by a licensed contractor. The front porch also has some problems including railings, and needs to be repaired. Also, the front door needs to be locked with key access provided to all tenants. You are directed to secure a building permit within thirty (30) days. Failure to do so will result in legal action being filed in Salem District Court. Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation .
