RE: 3 Barr Street
A rough inspection was conducted on March 19, 2011 on a V2 bath for the property
located at 3 Barr Street. I found that the bath was incorrectly vented. I advised the
Plumber that it would have to be brought up to code He agreed and said he would bring it
up to code.

To the City of Salem, Building Department:
As of March 6, 2011,Jennifer Ann Davis and co-owner and spouse Ian Christopher de Planque
have initiated proceedings to terminate-an and all contracts with Pride Construction pertaining to the
property located at3-BarrStreet, Salem MA 01970.
The reasons for this termination of contract is that the contract was initially discussed in March
2010, the first agreement was signed July 27th, 2010 to be completed within two months and the first
downpayment for work made then, yet as of March 4, 2011 the work is still significantly far from
completion. Nine months is an excessively long time for a construction project that should have taken
no more than two.
Furthermore, based upon an independent home inspection hired by Dr. Davis, the work
performed to date by Pride Construction was of very low quality, did not meet the terms of the contract
as outlined, and much of the existing work has either not been performed or was executed so poorly, it
will need to be redone.
Finally, Pride Construction had the locks changed on the property and made no effort to provide
the homeowners with a key or independent access to the property. The homeowners discovered this
when they went to enter the property prior to the independent inspection to look over the current
status of the work, and had no access. This is an absolutely unacceptable state of affairs, and between
the nine months and however much ahead of the project.before completion, the low quality of work
and uneven craftsmanship, and the revocation of owner access by Pride Construction, the homeowners
see no possible alternative other than to terminate any and all existing contracts with Pride Construction
and to seek mediation and, if that is ineffective, legal recourse, concerning the property at 3 Barr St.
As the homeowner, I request that any and all work permits filed by Pride Construction to be
revoked and terminated effective March 8, 2011. If there is any other supporting documentation,
photographs, or other materials required, please contact Dr. Davis at 703-627-0596 or by email at
jadavis@dia.mil.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Jennifer A. Davis
