Dear Mr. Bean:
I am sure you are aware of the Building Code Regulation, which
requires you to obtain a Building Permit before commencing to do
any construction.
I would like to hear your answer to my question of why you did not
obtain a permit.
You have caused the Davis' quite a lot of aggravation by constructing
and enlarging the side entry and placing it too close to the property
line which is a violation of the City Zoning Ordinance. The Davis' have
an application before the Zoning Board of Appeals for a .variance to allow
the new construction to remaifi.
The penalties for violating the requirement of the Building Code are
formidable ( $ 1,000 - per day.)
The penalties for violating the Salem Zoning Ordinance are $ 50.00 per
day. I am requiring you to contact this office immediately, to tell me why
I should not revoke your City of Salem Home Builders License #72 issued 5/10/76.
If I decide to revoke your license, rest assured that notification of my having
done so will be sent to the State Department of Public Safety, for their
information and determinations as regards youtState License, if you have one.
