Dear Mr. Ily:

Reference is hereby made to the following: a certain variance granted to you by the City of Salem
Board of Appeal to construct a 40' by 40' garage at the Property; an undated violation notice issued to
you by this office containing a direction for the removal of the second floor from the barn; a letter from
this office dated October 18,2005 directing you to stop work at the barn; and a decision by the City of
Salem Board of Appeal dated December 19,2005 requesting an administrative ruling for the Property.
Please be advised that notwithstanding the above, you are authorized to commence work at the
Property pursuant to Building Permit #386-2003, provided that, prior to commencement of any
additional construction on the barn, you decrease the eve line(soffitt) of the barn from 17 feet to 14 feet
and all future work complies with the conditions of the Building Permit and Variance.

applicant must file, by delivery or registered mail, a
Notice with the City Clerk stating the date of sub-
