As per the written notification dated November 9,2016 test pits were excavated yesterday and today at the Salem
Landfill/Transfer Station site at 12 Swampscott Road. The test pit excavation was not completed as anticipated during
this time and the contractor is going to continue this test pit excavation tomorrow. Please let me know if you have any
questions.

Dear Mr. Fairbrother;
On behalf of the City of Salem (City), Tighe & Bond is submitting this written notification in
compliance with Condition No. 4 of MassDEP's Conditional Approval issued September 16,
2016. As previously notified, test pits were excavated onsite on October 25 and 26, however
it was determined that different equipment would be better suited to excavate the test pits.
The proposed test pits are now scheduled to be excavated at the Salem Landfill/Transfer
Station site at 12 Swampscott Road on Monday, November 14 and Tuesday, November 15 (if
necessary).
Tighe & Bond will have a representative onsite observing the test pit excavation. Stephen
Kjellander will be observing the test pit excavations. His cell phone number is 603.759.0253.
