This letter is in regards to the condition of the ceiling joist in the main assembly room of the church.
A permit was filed with our office on May 10,2018 to remove and replace the blue board,plaster and
insulation on the ceiling due to water damage. I was called out to the building to assess the condition of the
ceiling joist and framing after the demolition was complete. It is visible that many of the connections have
failed over time due to the age of the building . Before proceeding with any repairs you will need to consult
with a Massachusetts certified structural engineer/designer to design a repair for these conditions . After a
design is drawn please submit these drawing to the Salem Building Department for approval. If you have any
