A Certificate of Fitness Inspection was conducted on April 28th, 2022 at 17 Bryant Street Unit 1
The following violations of 105 CMR 410.000 were noted:
• The closet in the dining room where the doorbell is attached has exposed wiring hanging out of
the wall. Have a licensed electrician repair this wiring so that it is no longer exposed and hanging
out of the wall.
• Kitchen window above kitchen sink does not open. Repair window so that it opens and closes
with ease.
• Lock lever for sliding doors in kitchen leading to outdoors works properly, but it is broken making
it short in length and difficult to activate. Repair or replace this lock lever so that the sliding door
can be locked and unlocked with ease.
• Wooden gate door in backyard that leads to stone steps that lead to the public way has its latch
on the wrong side of the wooden fence, preventing the gate door from opening. Repair wooden
gate door so that it opens and closes with ease and allows access to the public way.
• Bedroom with a fireplace has a window second from the right with a bent screen frame. Repair or
replace bent screen frame so it fits within window frame with no gaps as intended.
• There is a strong moldy odor in the front stairway leading to the apartment's front door. Find the
source of this odor and remove or repair as needed to stop odor.
• When facing the front of the property from the parking lot, on the left side there is a burrow hole in
the front yard leading to underneath the property's foundation. Close this hole and any other hole
leading into the property. If any rodents have infiltrated the property have them exterminated.
Owner/Manager is to correct violations prior to having an occupant occupy the apartment. If an
occupant needs to move in prior to corrections being made owner/manager has 30 days from the day
occupant moves in to correct violations or be subject to penalty which may include monetary fines.
Per City of Salem ordinance the first re-inspection for a Certificate of Fitness is free and subsequent
re-inspections will cost$50.00 each.
