Handicap Entrance issue.
Dear Owners,
I was asked,by a resident of your property,to take a look at an accessible entrance that they were having
difficulty using, The Entrance is located at the rear of Building One, and identified as 190 Bridge Street units
1101 through 1412. 1 inspected the entrance on May 22°d. I found that the cement walkways appeared to have
settled significantly creating about a three to four inch change in grade adjacent to the door.Mass regulation
521 CMR section 26 allows no more than a%z of inch height of Threshold and the exterior approach must be
the same height as the interior elevation. It also appears that someone has installed a makeshift metal ramp to
alleviate the situation. This ramp has worsened the situation.
Additionally the door has an automatic door opener on the interior side but does not offer that feature on the
exterior.The door opening force exceeds the 15 pounds of force also specified in 521 CMR section 26.
You are directed to secure the services of a Mass licensed design Professional to review this violation of the
Mass Architectural Access Boards Regulations and to contact us with your proposed repairs within 30 days of
receipt of this notice. If you feel you are aggrieved by this directive,your Appeal is to the Board of Buildings,
Regulations and Standards in Boston.
