Under this deliverable, analysis results are presented for five samples that were received on December 28 and 29, 2004 and logged in under Mitkem Work Order Number C1600. Analyses were performed per instruction in the chain of custody form. For reference, a copy of the Mitkem Work Order form is included for cross-referencing the client sample ID and laboratory sample ID. The analyses were performed according to Massachusetts DEP and EPA SW-846 methods,with results presented in a Level 4 format deliverable. The following observation and/or deviations are observed for the following analyses: 1. Volatile Organic Analyses: Samples were analyzed by Method 8260B. 1 Surrogate standards: four surrogate standards were spiked into each analysis. Surrogate / recoveries were within the MADEP and Mitkem QC limits. Mitkem's statistical QC limits listed on the surrogate report.form are wider than the MADEP 70%-130% limits for d4-1,2-dichloroethane. Lab control sample/lab control sample duplicate: spike recoveries were within the MADEP 70%- 130%limits with the exception of low recovery for 1,4-dioxane in V6WLCS and its duplicate and V6XLCS and its duplicate. This compound is also outside of the calibration acceptance criteria. A few compounds were recovered outside of the Mitkem statistical QC limits in V6XLCS and its duplicate. Lab fortified blank: laboratory fortified blanks at the 1 ug/L concentration level were analyzed to support a reduced reporting limit for vinyl chloride and 1,1-dichloroethene. Percent recoveries for both compounds in both LFB were within the QC limits. Matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate: duplicate matrix spikes were performed on sample MW-6. Percent recoveries and replicate RPDs were within the MADEP 70%- 130% limits, as well as the Mitkem statistical QC limits, with the exception of low recovery for for styrene in both the MS and MSD. Replicate RPD exceeded the MADEP 30% limit for vinyl acetate. Sample analysis: samples MW-2 and MW-3 were reanalyzed at 2X and 1 OX dilutions respectively. No other unusual occurrences were noted during sample analysis. ©boje- r (i k, li- 2. MADEP VPH Analysis: Samples were analyzed by VPH Method 1.1. All samples were properly preserved. Surrogate standards:percent recoveries were within the QC limits. Lab control sample:spike_recoveries were within the QC limits for the lab control sample and duplicate lab control sample. Matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate: duplicate matrix spikes were performed on sample MW-6. Percent recoveries and replicate RPDs were within the QC limits. Sample analysis:no unusual occurrences were.noted during sample analysis. 3. Semivolatile Organic Analyses: Samples were extracted by Method 3520C continuous liquid-liquid extraction, and analyzed by Method 8270C. Surrogate standards: six surrogate standards were spiked into each analysis. All . surrogate recoveries were within the Mitkem QC.limits. All compounds are within the MADEP 30-130%limits for base/rieutral and 15-110% limits for acid compounds with the exception of tribromophenol in samples MW-5, MW-6MS and MW-X recovered above the MADEP 110%QC limit. Lab control sample: spike recoveries were within the MADEP well as the Mitkem statistical QC limits with the exception of hexachlorocyclopentadiene recovered above the Mitkem limit but within the MADEP limit. Mitkem LCS QC limits are generally within the MADEP 40-140%limits for base/neutral and 30-136% limits for acid compounds with the exception of:difficult analytes. These QC limits and the difficult compounds have been statistically determined per method requirements. Matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate: duplicate matrix spikes were performed on sample MW-6. Percent recoveries were within the MADEP 40-140%limits for base/neutral and 30-130%limits for acid compounds with the exception of unusually low recovery for 3,3'dichlorobenzidirie in the MS and MSD. A few compounds were outside of the Mitkem statistical QC limits. Replicate RPDs were within the MADEP and Mitkem limits with the exception of 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine- Sample analysis: the compounds aniline, azobenzene and acetophenone were not included on the analyte list for this project.
