Environmental Health Highlights
56 Swampscott Road
• This address has been the site of an ongoing illegal dumping issue. Over the course of the last
g g g p g
several months the Board of Health has worked with MA DEP to address this matter. MA DEP
has installed closed circuit cameras on the site and as a result approximately 10 people have been
observed illegally dumping at this site. These offenders have been fined and ordered to remove
what they dumped on the property. To date the city has been paid approximately$2650.00 in
fines. We have instituted court action against the owner for failing to secure the property to
prevent illegal dumping at the site.
117 Lafayette Street
The Board of Health has received approximately 2 complaints of bed bug infestation in unit 310
at this address. Both complaints were investigated and no evidence of bed bugs was observed.
The building management has been addressing this issue and a licensed pest control operator was
out to the property on 11/11/13 and they found no insects in the unit at that time.

environmental investigation. Additionally, there is a new tool for establishments to assess
their vulnerability to food borne illnesses, looking at the antecedents to food borne
illnesses at their businesses and strategies to put into motion to reduce the risk.
