380 Essex St Historical Packet
August 22, 2016 Patricia Kelleher Planning and Community Development Dear Patricia, Enclosed is the requested information about the proposed solar array for 380 Essex St, Salem MA 01970. Photos of Existing Conditions taken from Essex St. Note: The customer will be replacing the shingles prior to the installation of the solar panel. Regardless of the solar installation, the roof has come to the end of its useful lifespan and would need to be replaced soon. SITE PLAN: ELEVATION DRAWING OF ARRAY: The front of the building is 48 feet wide. The height of the building is 3 stories. 31 feet high is an approximate measurement as it does not directly relate to layout requirements needed for panels. 30 stories is estimated to be 30 feet high + a few feet of foundation. DETAILS: -The proposed array will consist of 20 Sunpower 360 watt panels. The Sunpower 360 is currently the most powerful residential panel available. This was selected to maximize power production while keeping footprint of the array to a minimum. Standard mounting practice will have the panels situated 4-5 inches off the roof. See similar install below: -20 Solaredge P400 Power optimizers will be mounted underneath each panel and will not be visible - Racking will be provided by Snap-n-Rack and cut flush with the edges of the array. Dimension -Each panel is 61.3 inches tall X 41.2 inches wide. The dimensions of the entire array is below. Addition Height/Measurements The height of the system from the roof plane to the top of the panels does not exceed 6”. Equipment -Outside equipment includes the panels, power optimizer (hidden on the back of the panel), the roof racking system, a ¾ inch conduit hidden on the driveway side of the building to bring electricity from the panels to the basement, and a disconnect switch mandated by MA electrical code also hidden on the driveway side of the house by existing electrical meter. -All other equipment including inverter, circuit breakers, production meters, will be mounted in an unfinished basement similar to below.
