10-4-17 CERTS - 88-90 Federal Street - slate and side retaining walls - outstanding items CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS – COMPLETED & OUTSTANDING ITEMS It is hereby certified that the Salem Historical Commission has determined that the proposed:  Construction  Moving  Reconstruction  Alteration  Demolition  Painting  Signage  Other work as described below will be appropriate to the preservation of said Historic District, as per the requirements set forth in the Historic District's Act (M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic Districts Ordinance. District: McIntire Address of Property: 88½ - 90 Federal Street Name of Record Owner: Leo Kraunelis Description of Work Proposed:  Repair side retaining walls and remove existing metal posts.   Finish retaining walls in stucco and cap with bluestone in 1¼” to 1½” thickness with 3/8” to ½” overhang. Outstanding item  Restore slate roof through repair and or in-kind replacement of slate shingles, copper flashing and roof sheathing.  Repair and/or in-kind replacement of wood gutters, downspouts, and skylights. Outstanding item  Install new fencing and 4 condenser units at rear of property. This work is not visible from a public way named in the district and is therefore not subject to review by the Commission.  The following items remain outstanding:  Paint downspouts to match color of house  Apply stucco finish to retaining wall Dated: March 2, 2018 SALEM HISTORICAL COMMISSION By: The homeowner has the option not to commence the work (unless it relates to resolving an outstanding violation). All work commenced must be completed within one year from this date unless otherwise indicated. THIS IS NOT A BUILDING PERMIT.
