It is hereby certified that the Salem Historical Commission has determined that the proposed:

as described below will be appropriate to the preservation of said Historic District, as per the requirements set
forth in the Historic District's Act(M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic Districts Ordinance.

Description of Work Proposed:
■ Reconstruct front entrance porch:
o Replace existing square balusters with new turned wood balusters (see attached photo);
o Replace existing handrail with new wood handrail to match original design;
o Replace existing bases ofporch posts with new mitered boxed bases with decorative trim;
o Replace existing floor boards with new Ipe wood boards laid horizontally across building with
borders (see attached drawing). New floor boards to match width of existing floor boards with
option to allow boards to remain unfinished to weather gray or be coated with Ipe oil; and
o New porch posts and railings to be painted to match existing color (trim color of house).
Upon completion of work,please notify Historical Commission staff for final review and sign-off of Certificate.
