Works. This is the same company that has done restoration work of the fence around the Salem Common, and also
used by the Peabody Essex Museum to restore the fence at the Cotting-Smith Assembly House, 138 Federal St.

Proposed Protocol for Restoration of Existing Cast Iron Fence in Front Yard:
• Photograph and document condition of existing fencing and handrails scheduled for restoration.
• Remove components and transport to DeAngelis Iron Work, Inc. in South Easton, MA.
• Granite curbing at base to be reset and leveled by McLaughlin Masonry, Marblehead, MA in
conjunction with installation of new brick sidewalk.
- Stones will be removed with excavator.
- Excavate earth for new 3/4 crushed stone with Portland base.
- Re-install each stone.
- Stones joined with Portland cement with tooled flat joints. Wash with masonry cleaner.
• At DeAngelis facility, sandblast all iron components to bare metal and dispose of lead
contaminated materials in an environmentally safe manner.
• Remove all mechanical connectors that have deteriorated and replace with new stainless steel
hardware.
• Remove all components that have deteriorated to less than 90%of their original dimension and
replace with new. Note that all welding used in repairs shall be applied to beveled joints and
ground invisible.
• Existing in-tact cast iron posts to be restored and re-installed at either side of front steps.
• New custom cast iron posts will be made to match existing and installed at corner/end of
fencing. New cast posts will exactly match existing posts.
• Restore and re-use existing loose cast iron pickets currently in owner's possession
• Manufacture new custom cast iron pickets to exactly match
• Apply premium paint system consisting of one coat zinc rich primer, one coat hi-build epoxy,
and one coat aliphatic urethane finish paint. (Note:This paint system is the same system applied
to the fence and gates surrounding Harvard Yard when they were restored in the late 80's.)
• Install restored components to original locations and touch up finish paint.
