It is hereby certified that the Salem Historical Commission has determined that the proposed:

as described below will be appropriate to the preservation of said Historic District, as per the requirements set
forth in the Historic District's Act (M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic Districts Ordinance.

Description of Approval of Work:
▪ Install new shed in southwest corner of property. Shed to be “Chateau” style without a window; oriented
gable end to South Pine Street; clad in horizontal cedar tongue-and-groove siding to remain unpainted;
with roof to be 3tab asphalt shingle to match main house; and door to be painted black to match doors on
main house, locate shed five feet (5’) from side and rear property lines in accordance with zoning
requirements.
▪ Relocate fence along sidewalk into lot to correspond with far corner of entrance vestibule. Two (2) fence
segments, approximately 4 feet long to remain at corner of house and yard on sidewalk. Fence and
sidewalk segments to match existing fence in design, materials and color.
▪ Renovate main house per architectural drawings by Helen Sides dated September 18, 2019 with the
following changes:
o New dormer on façade (south) slope of roof to include trim to match existing on building; a 2/1
true-divided wood window; and sidewalls clad in wood clapboards;
o Two (2) 2’ x 3’ skylights to be added to upper slope of rear roof in place of proposed light tubes;
o New first and second story windows on the rear (north) elevation to be located near the street;
center new windows between cornerboard and adjoining existing window trim.
Upon completion of work, please notify Historical Commission staff for final review and sign-off of Certificate.
