This is the house as seen from the
intersection of Turner and Derby. The
roof work to be done is at the rear
of the house.

This is the rear of the house. Where the work needs to be done on the roof. There are some more detailed photos to
follow, and a structural engineer is working on the drawings –but the area where the pitch needs to be changed is
between the two white lines. The ridge is not being touched, just replace the missing rafters and change the pitch in
the marked section. The skylight is not visible from the street.
This is the rear roof from the egress deck. There is a skylight. I have
been up and down Derby street and have found nowhere where the
skylight can be seen from the street. The area of roof where there
will be a pitch change is to the left of the skylight and behind the
dormer on Unit #3. I have taken a ton of photos and cannot find a
way to photograph that area from the street, that is to say a way that
that area of the roof can be seen from the street.
I asked the contractors to put markers on the roof to see what was /was
not visible from the street. They used 2/4 wood laid out as above.
None of the wood was visible from the street –from any angle. You
can see the ladder on subsequent photos and it is standing about 3
feet to the right of the right edge of the skylight.
This is again taken from the deck area at the
rear of the house we ran caution tape –
from the ridge, 24 inches away from the
chimney over to the top edge of the
adjacent dormer–you can see where Bill is
standing in the photo, the very bottom of
the satellite dish is the same height as his
shoulders. The new rafters won’t go nearly
this high-I believe they will max out at 36
inches, so roughly where Bills waist is -but
I wanted you to see that even at this height
you cannot see anything from the road.
The satellite dish is a good marker –from the street this is the absolute
most that you can see of the satellite dish.
With the caution tape in place, and / or with the pieces of wood
on the roof, this is what you can see from the street
This is the same view from
the deck –ladder,
skylight, wood marker
More of the same…….. with the caution tape in place, and / or with the pieces of wood on the roof, this is what you can
see from the street

More photos again skylight not visible, ladder is visible (just)
