It is hereby certified that the Salem Historical Commission has determined that the proposed:

as described below does not involve an exterior architectural feature or involves a feature covered by the
exemptions or limitations set forth in the Historic District's Act (M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic
Districts Ordinance.

Description of Work Proposed:
Per review of mockup by Commission Member Pattison, the Commission approves the following
temporary repair work:
▪ Repair rotting window trim and sills on building’s east elevation with composite repairs to match
existing dimensions, detail and outward appearance as closely as possible. NOTE: This work is
considered a temporary measure ONLY due to advanced deterioration of trim and is to be
replaced with wood trim when window sash work is completed in the future. Any future work on
window sash and trim requires review by the Commission.
▪ Replace rotting window trim and sills on building’s Federal Street (south) elevation. Sills to be
replaced with mahogany and trim to be replaced in wood to match existing dimensions, design
and outward appearance.
There will be no changes in color, design, location or outward appearance. Non-applicable due to
being temporary and in-kind repairs. Upon completion of above work, please notify Historical
Commission staff as final sign-off is required to document compliance with this Certificate and
approved plans.

indicated. THIS IS NOT A BUILDING PERMIT. Please be sure to obtain the appropriate permits from
the Inspector of Buildings (or any other necessary permits or approvals) prior to commencing work.
