Skylight_lettter_Thu_Nov_12_2020_14-06-03Amy Witherbee 6 Orne Square Salem, MA 01970 November 9, 2020 Salem Historical Commission VIA Viewpoint Portal To Whom It May Concern: Please accept this Application for a Certificate of Non-Applicability for the installation of a skylight on the back pitch of the roof of our home at #6 Orne Square in the McIntire District. The back of this building, including the back roof pitch, is not viewable from any public right of way. As you are probably aware, Orne Square condominium buildings are made of up two units apiece. Our neighbor and co-building-dweller in unit #8 installed two skylights in her side of the roof with Commission approval some years back. In addition to the Orne Square site map, I have uploaded a photograph taken from another neighbor’s yard showing our side of the roof at the back of the house where we propose to install the skylight. The skylight itself is a model M06 solar-powered skylight measuring 30 1/16” wide by 45 3/4” long and deck mounted (see manufacturer specifications also uploaded). The installation would be situated approximately 2 1/5 feet down from the peak of the roof, two feet over from the chimney. The installer will use slate tiles removed from the installation area to cover over flashing around the skylight in order to achieve a more seamless appearance. We appreciate your consideration. Regards, Amy Witherbee
