as described below does not involve an exterior architectural feature or involves a feature covered by the
exemptions or limitations set forth in the Historic District's Act (M.G.L. Ch. 40C) and the Salem Historic
Districts Ordinance.

Description of Work Proposed:
▪ Replace existing 3-tab asphalt shingle roof with new Certainteed XT25 Traditional 3-tab shingles
to match color of existing shingles. Commission recommends “Black Pepper” or “Cobblestone
Grey” as better color matches than proposed “Gray Frost”. NOTE: This approval is for 3-tab
asphalt shingles ONLY. If architectural shingles are to be used, a new application must be submitted to
the Historical Commission to request a Certificate of Appropriateness.
There will be no changes in color, material, design, location or outward appearance. Non-applicable
due to being in-kind repair.
Upon completion of above work, please notify Historical Commission staff as final sign-off is required
to document compliance with this Certificate and approved plans.
