It was our intention to replace the roof with a previously approved product. I was merely responding to your induction that "The Commission has approved GAF Slateline and Certainteed Hatteras architectural shingles, which have a flat appearance and a straighter edge." 1 Please review the attached photograph of the existing condition and indicate what product lines have been previously approved which are suitable for replacing the attached roof. Please complete the attached application for a Certificate of Non- Applicability. For the application, please include a current photo of the building and its roof. If the roof is currently a 3-tab shingle, then a 3-tab shingle would need to be used to qualify for an in-kind replacement. If you are proposing to change from a 3-tab to an architectural shingle, which is the classification for the GAF Slateline Hatteras shingle you are proposing, then a public hearing would need to be scheduled at the Commission's September 4th meeting. Please have the property owner complete the attached application and return it as soon as possible. If the application is submitted by 8/5, it can be scheduled for the Commission's August 21st public hearing. Please note that in previous applications in the McIntire District, the Commission has not approved Timberline High Definition architectural roof shingles due to their pronounced angled cut and 3-dimensional appearance. The Commission has approved GAF Slateline and Certainteed Hatteras architectural shingles, which have a flat appearance and a straighter edge.
