The chimney above the roofline is in need of being rebuilt.
Both the bricks and mortar have deteriorated to the point where repairing it isn't a practical
option.
We suggest taking the chimney down to the roofline and rebuilding it using a new, similar, solid
brick and new lead flashing.
Once the chimney has been rebuilt, we would do the video inspection of the interior of the
chimney.
We propose the following:
Obtain a City of Salem building permit.
Set staging to safely access the chimney.
Remove the stainless steel chimney cap.
Take the chimney down to the roofline and properly dispose of all debris.
Rebuild the chimney using a new, similar, solid brick and new lead flashing.
Perform a video inspection of both of the flues in this chimney.
Reinstall the chimney cap.
Break down the staging, leave site broom clean.
