RE: Request for Certificate of Appropriateness, 95 Derby Street
We are responding to your letter received on October 9, 2018 requesting information regarding
recent changes to the VFW building located at 95 Derby Street. The VFW redesigned the inside
of the building which caused two visible changes to the outside of the building.

As can be seen in the photos above,the changes are the addition of a
new kitchen venting system installed on the roof and the boarding up
of two windows along the White Street side of the building.Previous
to these changes, those windows were boarded up from the inside and
not used.
Please be advised that these two changes are the result of our first
phase of renovations. Subsequent renovations are to be completed in
2019 and a certificate of appropriateness is requested.
The photo to the left is of the White Street side door.It is our intent to
replace this door to one that will look very similar, if not exact. (See
attached invoice and sketch.)

The left photo below shows the current structure on the Blaney Street side of the building. Our
intent is to `square' off the building(eliminating the outside storage area under the angled roof
and enclosed by the green door)and install a handicap ramp accessible entry way.
"All outside changes will be completed using similar brick to match the current look of the
building.
**We do not have final work bids in yet.
A clean up of the parking lot area and the lighted memorial sign is intended,as well. Long
overdue is the addition of James Ayube's name to the sign you can see in the photo above right.
