Project Description
Construction Type: Group R-2 Type III-B
Project Area: approximately 13,000 sqft (129 Lafayette St.)
approximately 23,000 sqft (20 Harbor St.)
Project Description
Project is an adaptive reuse of two existing unused masonry buildings. Full interior demo of all systems, new
partitions, and utilities throughout. No fire suppression system exists currently, systems to be designed and
installed as part of construction.

House Keeping
Smoking on or outside this project is prohibited. Project will be cleaned out daily and refuse will be brought to
dumpster area designated at a later date.
Storage of excess material will not be allowed. Flammable and Combustible materials will be kept on a limited
basis as to what is needed for that day. Gas Cylinders to be removed at the end of the shift.
Electrical Cords and Temp Lighting
Electrical cords, temp power, and lighting will be inspected by the superintendent at the start of each shift a nd
throughout the day. Lighting should have proper guards and all cords will be GFI protected. Damaged or repaired
cords are to be removed immediately.
Fire Protection During Construction
Temporary Fire Alarm system will be active in both buildings during demo and throughout construction.
Project Safety Standards and Practices
A site-specific safety plan will be developed for this project. This includes emergency contacts, local medical and
hospital information.
Regular safety meetings and safety inspections will be performed by the superintendent.
Temporary Construction Elements
There will be temp heat until HVAC is functional (if needed). There will be temporary toilet facilities available on
premises, cleaned regularly.
Site fencing will be installed around 129 Lafayette, and portions of 20 Harbor.
Any minor structural modifications will be at the direction of the project structural engineer.
Temporary office trailer and 40’ storage container will be located in the existing parking area.
Hot Works
If Hot work will be needed for plumbing MAP gas cylinders will be removed from the site at the end of each shift.
Base building will be notified before work begins. Fire watch will be required and provided by the trades during
operations and remain on station a min. of 1 hr after work concludes.
Fire watch individual will have a 5# ABC extinguisher to be inspected before each shift. Base construction
extinguishers will not be used for this purpose.
The project will have a minimum of (3) 5# BAC extinguisher s, rear, center, and within 10’ of exit door. See Plan
Below.
