Dear Ms Peterson:
A recent survey of route 114 , FAP 89, from Lawrence to Salem
shows that an unpermitted sign is being maintained on the
southerly side of the North Street Bridge approach in Salem, in
the city layout. (See Layout 3767 dated October 3 , 1950)
The Sign: located approximately opposite Commercial Street, is a
back to back directional bulletin advertising, Salem welded
Products, Bill' s Auto Clinic, Hendrick MFC Corp.
According to the City of Salem Building Inspector' s Office the
person to contact is: Gerry Kavanaugh, Planning and Community
Development, City of Salem, One Salem Green, Salem Massachusetts

Dear Sir:
The above businesses ' advertisements appear on a sign located on Rte. 11114,
at the North River Overpass. This sign has been erected without benefit of a
permit on the City's layout of Rte. 11114 , and is in violation of displaying an
off premises sign on a State Aid assisted roadway.
Therefore, I am directing whichever one of the above firms that owns the
sign to remove it within 30 calendar days of the date of this Letter. If no
action is taken by the owner, the Department will remove the sign.
If any one of the above firms have questions on this matter, please call me.
