The sign will be 42"H X 24" L X 26"W/D and will be weighed down by one hanging (concealed) sand bag of 5LBS to ensure stability. Attached is a description sheet of the A-frame from the company. The chalkboard will be used to write weekly specials and promotions and may include some hand drawn art. I would like to locate this sign next to the tree planter directly in front of the entrance as shown on the attached plan. The location has 6' 11"clearance from the building entrance door. My business has its own entrance. The other businesses in the building use different entrances. I look forward to discussing my proposal with you at the next Design Review Board meeting. Respectfully, Camila Souza MA Crepe d/b/a Mr. Crepe r Salem Redevelopment Authority Design Review Board Recommendation May 25, 2018 83 Washington Street (Mr. Crepe): Discussion and vote on proposed free-standing sign (sign permit) scheme and outdoor cafe permit. Recommendation At its May 23, 2018 meeting, the DRB voted unanimously (5-0)to approve the proposed a-frame sign and recommend approval of an outdoor caf6 permit for Mr. Crepe at 83 Washington Street. Original Proposal The applicant is proposing to add a free-standing A-frame chalkboard and outdoor seating in front of their business. The A-frame is 42" x 24" x 26" and will be weighted down with a concealed weight. The applicant has provided a sketch indicating the proposed location of the sign near the existing tree pit, which allows ample sidewalk width for pedestrian circulation. The outdoor seating consists of a pair of metal tables each with 2 metal chairs. The applicant has provided images displaying the location of the seating along the window of their business. The tables and chairs will be stored inside the applicant's business when not in use. Enclosed are materials for the sign permit application and an outdoor caf6 permit application. Staff Comments: The A frame sign complies with the sign ordinance: it will be in front of the business within 10 feet of the entrance and its placement will allow a minimum of five feet of unobstructed sidewalk clearance. The proposed placement of the outdoor seating provides more than the required four feet of sidewalk clearance for pedestrian access. Staff recommends DRB recommendations for both applications. s / f = Li Now { x„1C T_ • r A-Frame Sidewalk Boards Aarco offers perhaps the widest selection of quality A-Frame Sidewalk Boards.
