David Greenbaum, Health Agent and Elizabeth Gagakis, Senior Sanitarian,visited
129 Essex Street#9 on 1/14/20 at approximately 2PM to investigate a complaint of
cat urine from unit 8 entering unit 9.At that time a strong odor of urine and
ammonia were noted in the bathroom and laundry room of unit 9.We knocked on
the door of unit 8 and Barrie Sosinsky invited us to investigate the cat odor. In his
unit we noted a slight odor of cat urine.The litter boxes appeared to be clean. Mr.
Sosinsky indicated that the boxes are cleaned daily.We saw no actionable
violations at this time. It was suggested to Ms. Scopa that the condo association
consult a lawyer and that maybe hiring an HVAC contractor to see if there is a
cross connection in the HVAC system might be helpful.
No further action taken at this time.
