OBSERVATIONS:
This report follows a site visit to observe/test the earthwork for: Footing trench excavation.
Placement of slab base course materials continued within the south-southeast limits of building 1.
The area was previously filled to approximate sub base elevation (8.33'). The material used for base
course is 1.5" reprocessed material from the Caruso pit in Revere, MA. A single 15" thick lift was
placed and graded utilizing the Deere bulldozer. Some areas were compacted utilizing the Wacker ½ ton
plate compactor and small IR drum roller exhibiting stable/firm conditions. Work in this area remained
incomplete on this date.
Foundation backfilling was performed within the eastern limits of building 1 (bike shop). The
backfill material used is 1.5" reprocessed material from the Caruso pit in Revere, MA. 12" thick lifts
were placed and graded utilizing the Deere 75 excavator and bulldozer. Rigid Styrofoam insulation was
applied to the foundation walls where required as indicated on the plans. The gravel was compacted
employing several passes of coverage utilizing the Wacker ½ ton plate compactor exhibiting stable/firm
conditions.
Slab sub grade cuts were performed within the southern limits of building #2 parking garage area.
The in-place material at this location is not considered base course gravel and was removed to design
slab sub base elevation (8.33'). The soil was removed utilizing the Deere 75 excavator. The exposed sub
grade soil was then compacted utilizing the small IR drum roller and Wacker plate compactor exhibiting
stable/firm conditions.
