OBSERVATIONS:
This report follows a site visit to observe/test the earthwork for: Footing trench excavation.
Foundation backfilling and slab sub grading continued within the western limits of building 1.
Existing structural fill was cut from the surface along with small piles of material from footing
excavation and re used for foundation backfill. The material generated consists of F - C sand and
gravel, trace silt. 12 - 18" thick lifts were placed and graded utilizing the Deere 75 excavator. Each
lift was compacted employing several passes of coverage utilizing the Wacker ½ ton plate compactor
exhibiting stable/firm conditions. Areas with questionable in place slab base course material were cut
to the required depth accordingly.
Installation of water main utilities continued near the proposed Mason Street entrance. The trench
was carried down to design elevation utilizing the Deere 380 excavator. The calls 52 8" diameter CLDI
piping was installed, bedded and covered in clean imported bedding sand. All appropriate bends and
fittings were used as necessary. The trench was backfilled using the same material generated during
excavation consisting of F - M sand, some gravel, trace silt. Oversize material was segregated and
removed from the material during excavation. Approximately 18" thick lifts were placed and graded .
Each lift was compacted employing several passes of coverage utilizing the wacker ½ ton plate compactor
exhibiting stable/firm conditions. The surface of the trench was replaced with a minimum 12" thick
layer of 1.5" reprocessed gravel from the Larusso pit to maintain gravel base within driveway areas.
