OBSERVATIONS:
This report follows a site visit to observe/test the earthwork for: Footing trench excavation.
Installation of drainage utilities was performed at the WNW side of building 1. DMH C & D were
installed. The structures were set atop a base of crushed stone. The stone base below DMH C was
increased due to the presence of unsuitable organic material. The two structures were connected and DMH
D was connected to previously installed DMH E with 12" diameter HDPE. The piping was bedded and covered
in ¾" crushed stone. The shallow trench was then backfilled using the same structural fill generated
during excavation. The area was compacted utilizing the IR drum roller exhibiting stable/firm
conditions.
Plumbing utility trench excavation continued within the limits of building 2. The trench was
carried down to design elevation utilizing the Deere mini excavator. The structural fill gravel
overburden was segregated from the urban common fill generated during excavation. The common fill was
removed from the building. A 6" thick layer of clean imported sand was placed at the bottom of the
trench.
Fine grading was performed for proposed pavement areas. Base course material was previously
placed. The material used is 1.5" reprocessed material from the Caruso pit in Revere, MA. Minor cuts
and fills were made utilizing the Deere grader. The surface was compacted utilizing the IR 10 ton drum
roller exhibiting stable/firm conditions.
Other pavement improvements were made in preparation for paving operations. Sleeves were installed
for irrigation and electrical conduits were installed where necessary.
