All projects proposed in the North River Canal Corridor(NRC&,Neighborhood Mixed Use
District that require Site Plan Review by the Planning Board are also required to receive a
recommendation by the City's Design Review Board (DRB). The DRB's role is to review
proposals to ensure that they are designed to complement and harmonize with adjacent land
uses with respect to architecture, scale, landscaping and screening.

Proposal
The applicant submitted additional construction details regarding the design of Building 2 at 9
South Mason Street to satisfy a condition of the project's Special Permit. The applicant presented
the plans at the Board's April 24, 2019 meeting. The Board reviewed this submittal to ensure that
all their comments were incorporated into the upilated plans.
DRB Review
Upon review, the Board found that the submitted plans and specifications were reflective of their
original comments and concerns. Members were supportive of the modifications to the
intersection of the front and side gable-end walls. They were appreciative of the applicant
highlighting the front-to-back gable as the main design element with the side gables subordinate.
They also found that the project continues to be consistent with the vision for this site as
described in the North River Canal Corridor Plan.
