CASA TEQUILA SIGN REQUEST Salem Redevelopment Authority Design Review Board Sign Recommendation 300 Derby Street Casa Tequila Fagade Sign Meeting Date: February 27, 2019 Members Present: Paul Durand, Chair, David Jaquith, Glenn Kennedy, Catherine Miller, Helen Sides Members Absent: Christopher Dynia, J. Michael Sullivan Decision: At a regular meeting of the Design Review Board (DRB), upon a motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously voted to recommend approval of the Derby Street fagade sign as designed and conditioned herein. Referenced Plans and Documents 1. Application for Permit to Erect a Sign, dated 1/11/19. 2. Casa Tequila Wall Sign Halo Detail', prepared by Sousa Signs, 225 East Industrial Park Drive, Manchester, NH 03109, dated 3/20/19. 3. Staff Comments dated 2/21/19. Condition of Approval 1. Consistency with Design/Plans: Should the applicant determine that the approved sign design may not be completed as detailed in the plans referenced herein, he/she/they shall return to the DRB to review proposed modifications prior to making any changes in the field. 2. Fabrication Only: The applicant may authorize the sign manufacturer to fabricate the sign as depicted on the above-referenced plans. However, the applicant shall not erect the sign on the building until the Salem Redevelopment Authority has issued its final approval of the proposed portico/pergola and outdoor seating improvements. Findings 1. The DRB reviewed the sign proposal and found that the proposed fagade sign is consistent with the standards and guidelines in the SRA Sign Manual regarding size, scale, and color choice that provides contrast to allow for readability. 2. The size of the sign conforms to the City of Salem Sign Ordinance, Article IV of the City Ordinances. 3. The DRB found that the internal illumination for this sign is appropriate since the letters will remain opaque with an illuminated outline creating a halo lighting effect. This illumination will not create glare for vehicles or pedestrians and it will not be so illuminated that it will shine into adjacent commercial or residential properties. Signature of the DRB By the signature below, I certify that this recommendation accurately reflects the actions of the Design Review Board. Paul Durand Date Chair
