Plate Compactors, CAT 980 & 950 Loaders & IR Pro Pac 110 Series 10 ton Drum Roller TEST METHOD:Sand Cone Nuclear Densometer TITLE:Inspector Staff Engineer EngineerX OBSERVATIONS: This report follows a site visit to observe/test the earthwork for: Footing trench excavation. Installation of water main utilities continued @ the north side of building 1. Sub grade improvements were performed below the utility. The in place existing unsuitable/organic laden fill was removed for a depth of 1.5 - 2' below the utility invert elevation. A layer of geogrid was placed over the sub grade followed by structural fill. The gravel base below the utility was compacted to a firm unyielding surface. CLDI piping was installed and covered in imported crushed concrete or clean sand. The trench was backfilled using the same select common fill generated during excavation. Unsuitable or organic soil was segregated from the material during excavation. 18" thick lifts were placed and graded. The backfill was compacted utilizing the Wacker ½ ton plate compactor exhibiting stable/firm conditions. Drainage utility installation was performed @ the North side of building 2. Sub grade improvements were performed consistent with those described above for water main utility installation. DMH 2 was installed and connected to previously installed DMH 3. The structure was set atop a 12" thick base of ¾" crushed stone. The 15" diameter HDPE was installed and covered in ¾" crushed stone. Backfilling was not witnessed. Plumbing utility trench excavation continued within the amenity space (SW limits) of building 2. The trench was carried down to design elevation utilizing the Deere mini excavator. A 6" thick layer of clean imported sand was placed at the bottom of the trench. The material used is 1.5" reprocessed material from the Caruso Pit in Revere, MA. The material was placed and graded utilizing the Deere bulldozer.
