structural supports within the building, which would be especially unsafe in case of
fire.
We have therefore declared the building unsafe for human occupancy or use. Your are
hereby ordered to have the tenant vacate the building immediately and to have the
building secured.
Please contact this office upon receipt of this letter to inform us as to your course of
action in this matter. Failure to do so will result in legal action being taken against you in
Salem District Court.

is enclosed herewith. I secured my appointment as Temporary
Executor of the above-entitled estate yesterday with the Essex
County Probate Court . In accordance with the directive contained
in the last paragraph of your communication,, please -be advised of
the following:
1 . Terminex, Inc . has been retained to treat the., building for
carpenter ants and to undertake an aggressive course of rodent
control to combat the existing rat problem.
2 . The second floor tenant has vacated the building and due to
the death of Mr. Solovicos, there is no first floor tenant . The
building was examined by an insurance adjuster concerning the
recent water damage and the building has now been secured.
I anticipate that the property will be advertised for sale in the
near future and I or the new owner will contact you concerning
the issuance of a Certificate of Fitness .
If there is any further action that must be undertaken by the
property owner (s) or their representative (s) , please contact me

As per our discussions of yesterday evening, it is imperative that this structure be
torn down as soon as possible. Currently, you are working to get the contractor that you
had lined up for this work to move this forward on his schedule. Or, if he cannot get here
to start in the next 48 hours, the City will bring in a Contractor to do this work, and you
will be billed for this service by this Contractor. If necessary a lien will be placed against
your property by the City to recover this expense.
As we have this short delay in the demolition process, it is in all of our best
interests if you would take this time to contract a pest control professional to remediate
any pest problems that might arise from the demolition of this structure.
Please remember that any contractor used for this purpose must be a
Massachusetts Licensed Construction Supervisor, and that a demolition permit is required
from this office. Also a Fire Watch Detail must also be on scene for the duration of this
demolition. This can be arranged by calling the Fire Department Headquarters, and
asking for the Detail Officer, who will arrange this and explain the costs and billing
procedure to you.
