1. Old Town Hall: Discussion of proposal and vote on recommendation to City Council
CDBG Planner Kirsten Kinzer states that there were a list of issues to resolve, so she met
with Russel Vickers and Michael Connelly and the Mayor to discuss all of the terms and
conditions for the agreement. Following that meeting was a second meeting with Gordon
College in which the Gordon representatives expressed satisfaction with all of the terms
proposed by the city. Regarding the utility payments, Kinzer explains that any amount
beyond what the city has been paying will be paid by Gordon. Utility bills will be in
Gordon’s name and the city will reimburse at the end of the year. She states that if
restrooms are installed in the basement, Gordon will collaborate with the city in
providing security and cleaning. Kinzer says that café-style tables and chairs will be
placed in Derby Square, and Gordon will assist the city in chaining the tables and chairs
at night.
Kinzer states that the Mayor is very excited to have someone actively managing the Old
Town Hall, and she looks forward to increasing the activity during the off-season. She
adds that the Mayor is thrilled that we have gotten through this project. She explains that
the city has booked the building through October, and Gordon will have full
responsibility for the programming after October 31, 2008.
Mitnik: Motion to recommend approval of the terms and conditions of this
proposal to the City Council, seconded by Connelly. Passes 3-0.
