Re: Work with no permit.
Mr. Delaney:
On the afternoon of April 11, 2016, I spoke with the carpenter who was rebuilding the
two-story porch behind your property at 4 Wheatland Street. There was no Building
Permit for the work in-progress. I told him that he could continue working until the end
of that day, but that a building permit would be required to cover the work that was
already done and the work that was still needed to complete the project.
Since that time, no one has come to the Building Department to apply for a permit. The
work that has been done is therefore in violation of the State Building Code, and has not
been inspected for safety compliance. See below:
780 CMR Massachusetts State Building Code
SECTION 105 PERMITS
105.1 Required. It shall be unlawful to construct, reconstruct, alter, repair, remove or demolish a
building or structure; or to change the use or occupancy of a building or structure; or to install or
alter any equipment for which provision is made or the installation of which is regulated by this code
without first filing an application with the building official and obtaining the required permit.
