Re: Revocation of Occupancy Permit:
Mr. Elliot,
I was asked to accompany Salem Police officer ,Phalen, from the community impact team , to look at
the condition of your home. The roof is leaking in several locations. There are areas of the sill that are
wide open to the weather and allowing squirrels and other animals entry to the home. There were no
working smoke detectors anywhere in the home. Since the property is open to the weather and
especially unsafe in case of fire I declaring this building" dangerous and unsafe' as described in the
State Building Code 780 CMR section 122. I am also revoking the occupancy permit for this building
until corrections are made. It will be unlawful to occupy this building. If you have any questions,
please contact this office. If you wish to appeal my Building Code order, your appeal is to the Board of
Buildings ,Regulations and Standards in Boston.
