This report is dated Oct. 20, 1955. We feel that the building mentioned in the report is extremely hazardous and is in a condition which is highly dangerous and perhaps should be gondemned. Inasmuch as this is beyond our jurisdiction we are going on record that everyone concerned should be fully protected and acquainted with the condition of this particular building. As a result of this report, we have contacted Mr. O'Rourke, Public Building Inspector, City of Salem, and he has made a visual inspection along with our Field Engineer, Mr. Ceruolo, to verify this report. Mr. O'Rourke promised to submit a written report on the condition of said building, and we hope that we will receive a copy of same. We would like to have an official report from the State prior to our commencing work in that area, and an official report from the Town of Salem and their notification to the owner of said building. Sacco Subject: Bulge and separation of left wall of four story beick building located at 152-154 Washington St. Salem, Mass., owned by the Salem Realty Co. Empire Building, Essex St., Salem. The above mentioned building found to have a dangerous condition existing at the present time. An examination of the said building by Mr. Ralph Murley, of the Employers Mutual of Nassau, V. Mooradian, Dept. of Public Works, and myself, representing Farrina Bros. Co. Inc. The left brick wall of the said-building has a definite bulge between the second and third floors, which upon examination of the interior showed a complete separation of the left wall from the entire building at the second and third floors. The separation runs from 1/8++ to about 211 inches along the walls, ceiling and floors. The Salem Fealty Co. owner of the said building have been ,notified of this condition, as well as the many cracks in the granite £mandation wall (left) of the building.
