Dear Ms. Keogh,
The owners of 19 Warren Street have submitted an affidavit regarding the legal status of 19
Warren Street. The affidavit states the owners intent to abandon the second floor unit. Under
Salem Zoning, an owner can reduce the number of units in a non-conforming structure .
Flowever,an owner cannot increase the number unless the structure is conforming with current
zoning. In this case the owners would have to petition sucessfully the Zoning Board of Appeals
to add a second unit. They would also have to construct the second unit to todays codes. It is
unlikely that the Z.B.A. would grant the variances necessary to "reinstall' the second unit. The
Assessors Office has changed their designation on this property to a single unit. A copy of this
letter will be placed in the building jacket as Public record. If further information is required,
please let me know.

Karen Vitone,being of full age, on her oath, deposes and says:
1. I am the petitioner in the matter stated below.
2. I am the sole owner of a residential property located at 19 Warren Street, Salem, MA 01970. I
have owned and lived at this property since May 2006. I have been using this property as a
single family residence since I purchased it and will continue using the entire home as a single
family property. There is a room on the second floor that has a sink and antique appliances that
are not serviceable and have never been used by me. They are simply being stored there at this
time until I eventually remodel the room to become a master bathroom or laundry room. The
sleeping areas are not separated. All of the utilities are on a single service. My home does not
work as a two family.
3. I wish to abandon the two family designation at 19 Warren Street as I have no intention of ever
using it as a two family _home.
