RE: 11 Ward Street
Dear Mr. Abreu:
This Department received and investigated a complaint regarding the condition of your
retaining wall at the above mentioned address.
The retaining wall is in very poor condition and in danger of collapsing. The collapse of
this will endanger life and the integrity of the adjacent building.
Because of the serious nature of this problem, I am declaring the wall an"unsafe
structure"(Massachusetts Building Code 780 CMR, Section 121). Per Sections 121.1
through Sections 121.8 you are ordered to begin repairs within 24 hours upon receipt of
this notice.
Failure to comply will result in court action and necessity for the City to make the repairs
and to place a Municipal Lien to recover the costs.
Additionally, I am ordering the jersey barriers to be placed across the parking lot. This is
to eliminate the additional stress of the motor vehicles upon the retaining wall.
If you have any questions, please contact me immediately.
Sincerely, /J
Thomas St. Pierre
