Dear Bill:
As you are aware, the Board of Appeal conducted a hearing
on April 15, 1987. One of the petitions on our agenda that evening
was 2 Thorndike St. In 1983 this property was granted a Special
Permit to allow a three family conditioned on it's being owner occupied.
The new owners petitioned the Board to have that condition removed, this
petition was subsequently withdrawn. It is my humble opinion that this
property is being used as a three family and warrants your concern.
I have also received a telephone complaint regarding a dwelling at
r 16_4 N_orth St: This property petitioned the Board in the past to convert
a two family to a three family and was denied. The neighbors informed
me that it is being used as a three family. If you have any questions
please do not hesitate to call me.

Sirs:
Records at this office indicate, that you or your contractor have failed to
request a final inspection for work performed at your premises :
Located at: 2 Thorndike Street
Application date: July 27, 1983
A final inspection is required for issuance of a Certificate of Completion and/or
the signing of the Certificate of Occupancy, by the Salem Fire Inspector.
It appears that sufficient time has elapsed, since the application was made to
perform work covered under the codes. You are therefore in violation of the
Salem Fire Code and Massachusetts General Laws , with reference to occupancy.
You shall make an appointment for the required tests and inspection, by the
Salem Fire Prevention Bureau inspectors . Please call 745-7777 within seven
days of this notice, to request said inspection, or notify this office of reasons
why test and certification is not required.
Failure to comply shall be cause for such furthur action as the law requires , and
possible court action to remove the contractors license to practice in the City of
Salem; and/or a request for action by the Salem Building Inspector to insist that
use and/or occupancy be cancelled.
