DECISION ON RIF PETITION OF PATRICIA GOZE.MBA CONCERNING PROPERTY LOCATED
AT 17 SUTTON AVENUE (R-1 DISTRICT)
A hearing on this petition was held on Wednesday, November 29, 1978. Due to a lack
of a quoiuii, the hearing on this petition was held on December 6, 1978. Notices for said
hearing were sent to abutters and others and duly published in the Salem Evening News on
NoveDber 10 mid 17, 1978, in accordance with Miss . General Laws, Chapter 808.
McTTlbers Douglas Hopper, Donald Eames, Arthur Labrecque, James Boulger and Associate
Meriber John Nutting were present.
Atty. John Serafini, Jr. represented the Petitioner before the Board. The Petitioner
is requesting a Special Permit for the expansion of a non-conforming building to provide
additional space by expanding the second floor out an additional five feet so that the
building would be uniform is appearance from the first to the second -floor. A previous
building permit was granted for the second floor but the petitioner was not allo,.led to ex-
tend.. the second floor construction to match the length of the first floor level.
No one appeared in favor or in opposition to the petition.
The Board voted unanimously to approve the Special. Permit to extend the second floor
wall 5 ft. to line up with the first floor and that the building will remain a single family
residential structure. The Board found that extending the second floor to line up with the
first floor would be in harmony with the other homes in the area, and also found that it
could grant the permit requested without substantial detriment to the neighborhood and with-
out derogating from the intent of the Salem Zonin ; By-law.

Salem, MA 01970
Dear Dr. Gozempa :
A wiring diagram of the fire alarm system and brief sketch
of the electrical system will be required before an electri-
cal permit can be issued by this department .
Because the remaining portion of the building was exposed to
the weather , a complete new wiring system would be required.
All work will be done by a licensed electrician with an electri-
cal permit from this office .
Your adherence to these regulations is requested as it will be
strictly enforced.
Yours truly,
Paul Tuttle
