Re: 13 Stearns Place (along Jackson Street).
The Building Department has been made aware that the sidewalk at the address cited above is
overgrown with shrubs and/or vegetation. This is a violation of City Ordinance, and may be a
hazard for pedestrians.
Sec. 38-9. Obstructions by shrubbery.
No tenant, occupant, or owner having the care of any building or lot of land bordering on any
street, lane, court, square, or public place within the city shall allow any bushes, shrubbery, or
any other form of plant growth to obstruct the safe passage of any pedestrian on any such
street, lane, court, square, or public place.
(Code 1973, §26-9.1)
Please have the sidewalk cleared of all obstructions within 10 days of receipt of this notice.
Failure to resolve the issues cited above will be construed as non-compliance and may result in
the issue of municipal tickets and fines as well as further enforcement actions.

Mr. Jalbert,
A recent visit to your property at 11-13 Stearns Place revealed that the rear porch is in dilapidated and dangerous
condition, compromising a possible adequate means of egress from the rear of the building and also this office has no
record of application for the permitting of this work in question. Additionally construction debris precariously located on
the hillside of the property is in violation of City Ordinances and Massachusetts General Law, presently endangering the
public safety below.
These conditions constitute violations of the Massachusetts State Building Code (780 CMR Section 116.00,
Section 105.3, MGL Chapter 40-54 and MGL Chapter 111-150A)
You are hereby ordered to rectify these conditions within 7 days of receipt of this notice. You are directed by this letter
to file the appropriate applications for permit in our office at 120 Washington Street, 3`d Floor at the earliest possible
time. Failure to do so may result in further actions being brought against you,up to and including the filing of criminal
complaints at District Court.
You have the right to appeal this order to the State Board of Building Regulations at One Ashburton
Place, Boston, Ma.
