Terry from Barlo Signs (800 227-5674 x386) called to discuss the freestanding sign at�5 Paradise Road.
The new tenant is Metro Credit Union.
The tenant knows (I'm not sure if Terry knows)the existing Dunkin' Donuts sign is grandfathered. I
explained that the City and ward Councillor would really like to see it conform more to what our current
code is. (Although the site is not in the entrance corridor, Councillor O'Keefe would like to be, and the
adjacent signs are more similar to entrance corridor standards.)
The existing Dunkin' Donuts sign is 20' high, 72 square feet, and is an internally illuminated box.
I explained that our ideal would be a 12.5' high, 32.5 square foot sign, and not an internal box sign.
He asked about the adjacent Danversbank sign. I told him it is approximately 15' high and 60 square feet,
and is not an internal box sign.
If he cut the existing steel down and conformed to the 15' and 60 square feet of Danversbank, he asked if
he could he get a permit without a variance or committee review. I said yes.
He asked if the answer were the same if he moved the sign to a different location. I said yes.
We did not discuss building signage.
